Dr. Avanish Panikkar is a specialist in the treatment of solid waste and wastewater and in environmental management. His main areas of expertise are in decentralized/onsite treatment of solid and liquid wastes, N-cycle, biological waste management such as composting, environmental planning and management and risk management, with other interests in development of holistic waste and water management options, process optimization and application of automation in onsite waste treatment technologies. He is currently working as an Environmental Engineer with a leading consultancy, SMEC Australia; having recently moved from the University of Western Sydney, Australia and is affiliated with many professional bodies such as the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ), the Australian Water Association (AWA), the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA) and Society for Sustainability and Environmental Engineering (IEAust) and previously the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has work experience in academic, industrial and consulting environments in Australia and India and has published and presented several papers. His qualifications are Ph.D. and M.Eng.Sc in Environmental Engineering and B.Tech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
